We have a choice of rooms to suit your recording needs. Our rooms are purpose built to house multiple musicians at the same time with recording equipment
A built for purpose studio, the room actually takes your breath away when you first walk in. It is huge, about the size of a semi detached house with no floors or ceilings, just a vast open space with a big natural reverb to die for.
The ceiling is vaulted and the floor is solid wood tiles recycled from a school gym and lovingly laid and glued one at a time.
Dimensions 6.2 metres x 6.7 metres and at the highest point it is 6.576 metres high.
Features include a 200 year old baby grand piano that has been restored and has a sound of its own, a nine ply birch drum kit, all industry standard mics and a range of amps if needed.
The room has been partially cleared on a number of occasions and used to shoot music videos.
The spacious control room is behind a pair of sliding glass doors and is equipped with one of the latest Mac Pro’s with a choice of Pro Tools (bring your own key) or Logic X Pro. Our Midas Venice F32 purchased new 10 years ago is the last of the ‘original’ Midas products and has 32 world famous mic pre’s, that and a pair of Adams 7X monitors and an abundance of top of the range plug ins give us the best of all worlds, fantastic sounding live room, excellent analogue desk running superb digital DAW and plugins.
You can hire complete with our house engineer, Charlie Lintern, already with lots of commercially available products he has engineered and produced available throughout the digital world, or you can dry hire and bring your own engineer and producer.
We are very proud that both of our rehearsal rooms can also be used when recording if you want to spread the band throughout the building, they are all soundproof from each other and the wiring is in place to link them into the control room.
They also have a small control room complete with Mac Pro, Logic X Pro, Alesis 16 channel desk and Tannoy Monitors so either rehearsal room can be hired for an acoustic recording etc where you have your own engineer.
Our flagship rehearsal room features a very tight dry sound, vocal PA and mics as required, there is also a drum kit and backline available to hire.
Dimensions: 7.2 metres x 3.5 metres with a ceiling height of 2.2 metres. The black curtaining all around and black ceiling make it ideal for video shoots, there is a drum riser and some lights are available for hire or we can shoot a budget video for you.
This is in reality a live room, it has a natural vocal reverb and is a traditional room within a room. It can easily accommodate up to a 4 piece band and comes with a vocal PA and mics, again backline and drums can be hired (subject to availability). A perfect space for singer songwriters to work on new material and is within everyone’s budget.
Dimensions: 3.6 metres x 4.4 metres with a ceiling height of 2 metres.
13Sound Studio is a wonderful place to record! Ken and Charlie are endlessly helpful and accommodating. The recording room is stunning and the rehearsal spaces comfortable and inviting. It's my go-to studio when I need a big room sound for anything, especially drums.'
Always a wonderful welcome at 13 Sound Studios and coupled with a room that sounds like it does, it's the perfect place to make musical magic
